Over the weekend, I read chapter 9 and 10 of Nervous Conditions. The rest of the class only had to read chapter 10, but since I was not at school on Friday, I had to ketch up to be ready for our test on Tuesday. It feels weird that the book is already over, because I feel like there are still so many more things that could be explained. Dose Tambu end up making enough money to support her family? Dose Nyasha survive her anorexia? What happens to Tambu’s family at the homestead? I hate it when books end without completing the whole story. I want to know more about what happens, but I am forced to imagine the ending on my own. After reading this book, I concluded that I would never be able to write a book.
In Nervous Conditions, we found so many hidden meanings as sequences. Everything seemed to have a double meaning or a reason for it being in the book. It takes someone with great creativity to write a book…well one that is interesting. I cannot imagine myself coming up with all of these so-called “tricks” in my writings. Sometimes I wonder if the author actual meant to have these “tricks” in the book, or if they are just coincidental. Whether they were coincidental or on purpose, they make the author look like an remarkable, professional writer.
