Sugar and Spice: The Ups and Downs of Being a Celebrity

For my free reading this week, I started to read Sugar and Spice, the next book to Lauren Conrad’s L.A. Candy Series. Jane Roberts was a regular girl from Santa Barbra, until she moved to L.A. and became a star on Pop TV’s newest reality show. Her and her best friend since kindergarten, Scarlett Harp, moved to LA to go to USC and work as an intern for Fiona Chen, Hollywood’s best event planner. They had no intentions on becoming famous, but being on the show has completely changed their lives. Sugar and Spice continues on to the lives of the four stars of the show, Jane, Scarlett, Madison, and Gabby. We find out more about Jane’ relationships with her exes, Madison’s true identity, Scarlett’s thoughts about transferring to a new college, and Gabby’s love life. Reading this series makes me realize the ups and downs about movie a celebrity.
Everyone seems to want to have a spot in the limelight. It seems like so much fun, living the celebrity live, but one thing you would have to give up, that I would miss, is the privacy. The paparazzi snapping shots of them, and appearing in magazines, and walk around with fans cheering their name, you would never get to be alone. The whole world would know what you were doing at all times. Also, people would be nice to you just because of your fame. They would tell you anything you want to hear, because they are hoping that you will reward them with stuff. Just like Jane and Madison in LA candy, there is always someone that wants to stab you in the back, because of jealousy. While most people are wishing to be a star, I am happy just the way my life is.
